Winter Updates from StuCo Sus Rep Ian Lee ’24

Sustainability flourished this Winter, with memorable events and tense competition characterizing Sustainuary 2024, a month-long period dedicated to environmental awareness. SusCo worked diligently each week to inspire waste reduction, outdoor wellness, and care for our surroundings. Here are some updates from each subcommittee:

  • The Community Service Subcommittee is working on arranging upcoming explorations on environmental awareness.
  • The Events Subcommittee coordinated various events for Sustainuary, including the Trashion Show and Sustainable Art Workshop with artist Eileen Ferara.
  • The Facilities Subcommittee is about to complete Lawrenceville’s certification with the National Wildlife Foundation’s EcoSchools Program.
  • The Food Subcommittee established signage and planned flexitarian nights and an upcoming smoothie bar.
  • As a part of Sustainuary, the House Subcommittee ran the house recycling photo contest, with Kirby taking home first place.
  • The Outreach Committee continues to publish the VILLEage Green Newsletter, the school’s only publication dedicated to sustainability on campus and globally.
