This past Saturday, the Lawrenceville Sustainability Council’s event planning committee organized its second annual Lawrenceville Earth Day Fair, held in the Bath House.
“I had a great time at the Earth Day fair and learned a lot about how to be more environmentally friendly,” remarked Ian Lee ’24, “It was great to see the Lawrenceville community banding together to improve the world.”
The fair included a plethora of sustainability-related activities that covered topics as varied as energy, food, and engineering. One such booth let students fill cups with soil and plant seedlings, which could then be carried home and fostered.
“The cup-planting station was a terrific concept! Learning about gardening and the significance of minimizing waste was really enjoyable,” Lee said.
A second exhibit, hosted by Andrew Noviello ’23 and Alex Noviello ’23, focused on circuit boards and emphasized the value of energy conservation. Another booth at the fair let visitors decorate their own tote bags with eco-friendly, non-toxic markers. The stations were presented in line with the Sustainability Council’s broader aim of inspiring its peers to incorporate environmental consciousness in everything they do, whether it relates to their future careers or simple day-to-day habits.
Samir Singh ’24 said, “The event planning committee did an incredible job putting together the Earth Day fair. It was wonderful to see so many individuals interacting to share knowledge and improve the environment.”
The Earth Day Fair was a huge success overall, motivating visitors to take action for a sustainable future. “I think the [Earth Day Fair] showed the dedication [the Lawrenceville] community has to fostering environmental awareness,” Singh said.
